 The rapid expansion of legalized sports betting has introduced a new and largely unaddressed behavioral health risk for health plans. Gambling disorder drives significant downstream costs through comorbid mental health conditions, financial instability, and increased healthcare utilization of the whole family system. Yet most behavioral health systems remain under-equipped to identify and treat it.
